daughters, and said, ‘Get up, get out of this place, for the Lord will destroy
this city!’ But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking.’” (19:14)

Chapter 19 - Lot entertains two angels
Chapter 20 - Sarah is a half sister of Abraham
Chapter 21 - Isaac is born
What do we learn from this lesson?
1. How many times have we been called upon by God to entertain angels? What
would have been the results if Lot had closed his doors to those heaven-sent
messengers?
2. It is easy to let the children wonder into the city of sin. How difficult it
is to get them to leave. Lot’s pleading fell on deaf ears. Does this not say
something about bringing our children to church and Sunday School where they
will come to trust in God? We parents need to have such a relationship with our
children so that when we call them they will obey, believing we have all their
best interest at heart.
3. The pillar of salt is considered by many to be a figure of speech but it does
cause a worry for each of us. Disobedience to God’s commands carry a very heavy
penalty, perhaps not as a pillar of salt, but disobedience to God caused the
penalty of death.
4. Listen to God. He will always keep us from sinning or yielding to the
temptations to sin.
5. In God’s time, always in God’s time, his son, Isaac was born, not when
Abraham wanted a son or not even when he prayed, but Isaac was born in God’s
time. Learn to wait upon God. His timing is perfect!
6. God has a purpose for our lives. He will provide whatever we need. He will
provide water where there is no water and food where there is no food. Always
wait upon God for the answer. In His own time, He will provide.
Prayer:
Dear God, Sometimes waiting for an answer to our prayer is difficult. We are so
impatient. Forgive us. Help us, we pray to wait until you feel the time is right
to answer our prayer. Amen.
