Chapter 8 - Pharaoh’s heart is hardened
Chapter 9 - Plagues refuse to soften Pharaoh’s heart
Chapter 10 - God continues to show His power to Pharaoh

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. God does not pour out His wrath upon people without giving them a chance to repent of their rebellion. God’s wrath is sent only as people rebel against Him, deny Him, and refuse to even recognize His existence. Can this not also be a worry for us today? Obey the voice of God or suffer the consequences.
2. Hardening our hearts after God repents is only delaying the penalty of disobedience to God’s will. It did not work for Pharaoh, and it will not work for us. We must take God seriously when He gives us an order and expect them to be obeyed, or suffer the consequences.
3. God’s command was “Let my people go that they may worship me.” It has always been God’s desire for His people to have the freedom to worship. When nations fail to worship or serve God, they can be sure of God’s retaliation.
4. God’s people will long remember the command of God to tell of His wonders in Egypt. He wanted them to know that they were free because of His power and His power would always be with them as long as they kept His commandments and continued to give the praise for their deliverance to God.
5. Finally, God was ready to show His mighty power over Pharaoh. Moses told Pharaoh he would not need to see his face again. God was all but finished in destroying the reign of Pharaoh. The last plague was in place. Freedom was at hand for God’s people.

Prayer:
O God, may we always praise Thee and recognize Thee not only as the Giver of our freedom, but also Your protection of our faith. That one day we would receive the reward promised to those who trust and follow Thee. Amen
