3. “Also __________, because he said, ‘May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from another.” (31:49)
4. “Then ___________ sent messengers before him to _____, his brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.” (32:3)

Chapter 31 - The Covenant at Gilead
Chapter 32 - Jacob wrestles with an angel
Chapter 33 - The kindness of Jacob toward Esau

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. Many times the voice of the Lord speaks to us through the voice of an angel .or Christian people. In reality there are people among us whom the Lord uses to advise us. Here the Lord tells Jacob to go home to his kindred. What a beautiful command. “Go home”. Would to God many run-away young people today would hear this command from some appointed angel of God. Go home to your family.
3. Rachel and Leah answered ,'“What ever God says we will do.'” How many souls would be lost if many of the evangelists and good pastors of the day were to say 'no God, I ‘ m perfectly satisfied right here.' What would you do if God called you to go?
4. What a beautiful way to make friends of someone we fear. Jacob and Laban consent before God that they want to be friends and parted with the well used blessing, which today is called, the Mizpah, asking God to protect each of them until they come together again.
5. We always fight a losing battle when we fight against God. Its always a “no win” fight. However Jacob persisted and refused to give up without a blessing. He became known as Israel and had great power with God and men. Never give up the good fight of faith. The rewards are terrific.
6. Jacob looked upon his twin brother, Esau. A brother from whom he had taken his birthright and said, “I see your face as though I have seen the face of God. Can we also with some effort by the grace of God turn our enemies into our friends? To be able to patch up old qurrels is really a gift from God.

Prayer:
May we always, O God, be instruments of your healing power, ti bring healing among our enemies and peace among families that are torn apart with envy and greed. Amen.
