4. “You shall therefore keep My __________ and _______________, which if a man does, he shall live by them. I am the Lord.” (18:50

Chapter 16 - The Scape Goat
Chapter 17 - Blood needed for forgiveness
Chapter 18 - Unlawful marriage and lusts

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. Offerings have always needed to be made for sin. In this, the 16th chapter, the 8 the verse, things have changed some. The scape goat must loose itself in the wilderness, carrying the sins and iniquities of the people with him, never to return again, but their sins had to be confessed first. Is this not the procedure today? Recognizing our sins, confessing them to God, and let them be thrown by God as far as the east is from the west, meaning never to come back.
2. By now, each of us are aware that for the children of Israel, blood had to be shed for their forgiveness. The people were not allowed to eat any meat with blood still in it. Yet we know that the blood of Christ had to be shed for our sins. Always the shedding of blood, then and now, this is a necessary process for the forgiving of sin whether by a priest or by the high priest on the cross. It had to be done.
3. As the Israelites were planning to enter the new land, certain laws were brought before the people, laws to protect them from sins upon each other and against God. This was to keep Israel a separate and holy people from the rest of the people in the land in which they were going. God commands us to keep these laws, for He says, “Keep these laws and you shall live.” Keeping these laws was the promise of God for His continual dwelling and leadership among them. Has God departed from us for disobedience to His law, if so, there is still a second chance for our nation.

Prayer:
Help us, God, to be mindful of Your commandments and your laws, that we may live within the ordinances and thus become a holy nation unto Thee. Amen.
