Today's Bible Reading...

Bible Application Numbers 28-29 February 25

Questions:
1. “Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘My _________, My __________ for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time.’” (28;2)
2. “And on the _________ day you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work.” (28:25)
3. “Also one _______ of the goats on a sin offering to make atonement of you.” (29:5)
4. “So _______ told the children of Israel everything, just as the Lord commanded Moses.” (29:40)

Chapter 28 - Offerings to be observed
Chapter 29 - The day of Convocation.

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. This whole lesson is about offerings, and how important they were. Their offerings were always to be the best and without blemish and properly prepared. Is this not a picture of the Christ that was to come and now is? Born without blemish from God and not man, filled with love and forgiveness for people, aware of their hurts and needs and yet with the power to forgive sin and open the doors of Heaven for us.
2. All these offerings included the offering for sin. Even though the Israelites were the chosen people of God, yet sin was always within their camp, and needed to be forgiven. We need to learn the lesson that there are “no saints on earth”, and the continual need for the removal of sin from our “camp”, is ever before us.
3. It is a strong emphasis to the Israelites that the Sabbath is holy, a day of physical rest. This was a covenant of God between His chosen people and it was intended that this covenant be kept. If we must do our work on the Sabbath, then perhaps we should designate another day as our day of rest in keeping the holy ordinances of God. We must to be in much prayer over this matter.
4. All these sacrifices must be done in their season: daily, weekly, monthly and annually. These are constant reminders of the presence of God.
5. Note that Moses told the people all that God commanded. Indeed, Moses was a faithful servant of God.
Prayer:
Dear God, Thank you for the many ways to remind us of Your Presence among us: Your love, the way you have provided for us, and Your plan of salvation expressing Your desire that we would be with You forever. Amen.
