Today's Bible Reading...

Bible Application Numbers 8-9 February 16

Questions:
1. “Take the___________ from among the children of israel and cleanse them ceremonially. “ (8:6)
2. “And at the age of __________ years they must cease performing this work and shall work no more.” (8:25)
3. “Whenever the ________ was taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey, and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents.” (9:17)
4. “Whether it was _______ days, a _____________, or a ___________ that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up they would journey.” (9:23)

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. We learn that it is important for those who work in the church to be dedicated to the service of the Lord. Everything must be done in order. Thus it is important that our hearts be tuned to God’s voice.
In a sense, we are all as Martin Luther claimed, “a priesthood of believers.” So we Christians are to do all things possible to keep our
lives, hearts and minds clean and holy unto the Lord that He may lead us where He chooses.
2. A Levite was free from service in the Temple at the age of fifty. However, his experience should continue to lead young Levities into coming priests. If this were not so, much of the rites, rituals and teachings of the church would be lost.
3. We also learned the importance of keeping the Passover which was a unifying bond between God and His people.
Is it not important to keep the sacrament holy and freely accept the elements only after one has confessed to sin and found forgiveness. (9:11)
4. Like the cloud in the wilderness, (9:23) the cloud will tell us when to rest and when to labor. Isn’t this the same as “remember the Sabbath and keep it holy?”
God knew this body was not made to last forever. With proper attention to the commands of God, it will last as long as He chooses and then a celestial body, provided by God, for our fellowship in Heaven.
Prayer:

Dear God, everything You do for us, tells us You love us. We pray, O God, that through obedience to Your commands, we will show to You that we accept Your love and anxiously await Your further commands and leadership. Amen.
